Hard Maple Thin-Sawn Craft Board

This maple wood is true to its dimensions, has good grain, and is flat to within 1/16” over the length of 18”, which for unfinished wood is very good. I used it for laser cutting to make Christmas gifts (see attached picture) and applied a light clear coating to bring out the grain and seal the wood. I’ve also bought the walnut wood from Hardwood Edge before and was thoroughly pleased.

I am refinishing a Les Paul electric guitar. I’m a novice at that so I need to learn how to use finishes and dyes properly. Obviously, I don’t want to be experimenting on my Les Paul so I purchased this because the Les Paul had a maple front.I will learn how to use the finishing products using this purchase before I apply them to the guitar.The only reason I didn’t give everything 5 stars is simply because the price is hard to swallow. I don’t mean it’s expensive compared to similar products offered by others. It’s just VERY expensive to me considering how little lumber there really is here. But I shopped carefully and selected this because it was the best price/quantity I could find.As far as the quality of the maple planks are concerned, they are as close to perfect as I’ve ever seen. The quality even exceeds that of my guitar which is saying a lot. I sure hope I can learn how to do a cherry sunburst finish with these before typing it on my guitar.The guitar body is mahogany so I purchased some of that for the same reason. That is why the photo shows both the maple and the mahogany.

I am very satisfied with the overall quality. However, some of the 1/8-inch and 1/4-inch boards I received are noticeably warped.

It was the perfect thickness for my project which is a ladder fire truck 🚒. I used it for the roof and cab. I have made several firetruck and give them to the local fire department to raffle off. The maple gives it character.

There was a slight warp to more than one, but I suppose that is unavoidable given the thinness.

I received a very high grade of hard maple wood for my jewelry box project. It was perfect. Buying unseen wood is like buying produce online. You really don't know what you are going to get. My experience was positive, and I could not have selected a better set of planks. It was not easy to find.

High quality wood planks. But, be careful to store the unused planks after opening the plastic sealed bag. I’m in Southern California yet the boards warped noticeably in less than 24 hours.

These are great quality planks of maple. I used on a laser cutter to make wooden ornaments and the etching on the wood brought out a deep brown color which was beautiful. The grain complimented the ornaments rather than distract and the planks were not warped.

These are such handy pieces of wood to have! I do a lot of work on a scroll saw and prior to getting a bandsaw where I could resaw wood myself, I would buy these for projects. I have gotten multiple packs over a span of time, sometimes there will be a little warp in the pieces, which I know is very common for wood thinned to that size, but with gluing and clamping, it didn’t affect my projects. The pieces were pretty knot free and had very beautiful graining. They cut well with the scroll saw and take finishing oil well, most importantly!

I love item. They are sanded smooth and the wood itself is without defects of any kind while I don’t like paying shipping which sometimes cause me put it off ordering but I understand them charging. I think if a certain amount is ordered shipping is free but I didn’t want to purchase too much without having ever purchased from them before. I’m always cautious with this when buying online so it’s worth the price if shipping.
